Let’s Look At Your List

Lets Look

Daffodil: “Papa! Come in here!”

Me: “What’s going on?”

Daffodil: “Let’s look at your list.”

I have a whiteboard on the wall with lists of things I need to do.

Me: “What about it?”

Daffodil: “Read it.”

Me: “Um, okay… drain pipes; Sheri’s research project; clean bathroom; organize kitchen; organize living room; clean out garage; Monster book.”

Daffodil: “And?”

Me: “And what? That’s it.”

Daffodil: “What about my stuff?”

Me: “What do you mean, your stuff? It’s a list of things I need to do.”

Daffodil: “Don’t you remember? ‘Tickle Daffodil. Kiss Daffodil. Snuggle Daffodil.'”

Me: “Oh… ah…”

Because last week Daffodil complained that I was too busy and not doing those things enough, so I put on them on the whiteboard.

Me: “Don’t you remember? I did all those things. When I do things on the list, then I erase them.”

Daffodil: “What?! No! That’s not right!”

Me: “That’s what I do.”

Daffodil: “You can’t erase my stuff! You can erase your stuff, but you can’t erase MY stuff! My stuff is for always! My stuff is for ever and ever!”
